The annual tease begins, our damson tree is once again absolutely laden with blossom as it is every year, but will we get some fruit? Last year is the first I can remember that we collected any fruit, only a cap full but delicious....

Roofs and Spring Flowers
Another trying afternoon puzzling over the complexities of roof construction was relieved by an evening stroll by the burn.
The Spring flowers are really coming to life now.

Primrose
The primroses beside our burn are probably at their peak at the moment, I took this shot in the evening sunlight today.

Pink Tinged Daisy
You will have to forgive me for another photo of these lovely little common daisies, tinged with pink, I think they are fascinating....

Really pleased to see this this evening, Hilary told me that one had appeared yesterday but I couldn't find it. We used to have quite a few clumps of this gorgeous little woodland flower here at the Cottage until last year when for some unknown reason they all but vanished. Perhaps this is the only survivor....?

Spring is here
Well it must be, snow yesterday!
In this morning's bright sunshine, undeterred by the snow and light frost, the wild flowers are beginning to bloom here at Holly Cottage.

En-guard
This morning I spotted a young drakes guarding one of the ducks who had made herself a nest in the scrub on the bank above the meadow.
This evening when I went to check the nest for eggs, not only were there two large duck eggs but also a newly laid and still warm, pheasant egg beside them. I wonder if it was one of the pheasants the we hatched last summer.....?

Spring is almost here....
After a very easy winter in many ways, spring has just about arrived here in South Northumberland.
The first of the primroses beside the burn are coming into flower, always a very welcome sight!
